SOG 4-19    TANKER TASK FORCE RESPONSE

A. Scope:

This operational guideline shall apply to the use of the Tanker Task Force in areas where a

large quantity of water is needed, and there is limited or no water supply available. 

B. Guidelines:

1.The Task Force Commander will

a.Be in charge of all operations

b.Establish two draft site locations

c.Designate the Draft Pumpers

2.The Deputy Commanders will 

a.Supervise both the shuttle operations

b.Supervise the staging of the in-coming apparatus

c.Shall report directly to the TFC.

3.The Draft Pumper shall setup the following hose lines:

a.One (1) 50 ft five-inch

b.One (1) 100 ft three-inch

c.One (1) 150 ft three-inch

d.One (1) 200 ft three-inch

4.“Dump Tank” Operations

a.Dump tank valve (open & close) will only be used from the rear of the Tanker.

b.Four (4) firefighters will be required to operate the “dump tank” operation. 

c. One of these firefighters shall be designated as the Safety Water Officer. 

d. Driver/Engineers will pull the apparatus into position and wait until the SWO directs them to back-up to the dump tank.

e.The Draft Pumper at the “dump tank” shall use front and side suctions at the time of the setup. 

f. A second Draft Pumper, located at the “dump tanks”, will be used to flow water from tank to tank. 

g. A “nurse tanker” will be designated to fill the “pond” if needed.

5.The Tanker Task Force will respond directly to the fire and prepare to go into service when directed by the TFC. 

a.The first due tanker will unload their water, and then proceed to the draft site to be refilled. 

b.The first three (3) tankers equipped with “Dump Tanks”, will unload their tanks for dump operations.               

c. After loading, they will return to the staging area. 

d. This procedure shall continue until the TFC ceases the operations.

6. Radio communication will be limited to notification to Camden County Communications of response and emergency situations.

7. Two (2) Engines will be utilized for “tank operations”.

8. Staging Areas:                      

a. Staging areas will be used except for incidents within Battalion 23.                     

b. The staging area shall be setup as close to the incident as possible.                    

c. The location will be determined by the TFC’s and Camden County Radio will notify all units as they respond.
